If you’re not completely satisfied with how your smile appears to others, you may want to consider a cosmetic dental procedure to improve it. Porcelain veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry options available today. They consist of a thin shield of porcelain that Dr. Adam Moore attaches to the front of your tooth with special dental cement. A veneer improves the appearance of chipped, cracked, stained, or slightly misshapen teeth. They typically go on one of the front teeth as these are the most visible when you smile.
The Many Benefits of This Cosmetic Dentistry Enhancement
The low cost and fast installation time are two of the top benefits of having porcelain veneers installed by Dr. Moore. He can complete the entire process in a single appointment lasting one hour on average. Some of the other important benefits you can expect from this procedure include:
- An immediate improvement in the appearance of your smile
- The veneer can last as long as 15 years if you don’t subject it to unnecessary stress such as chewing on ice cubes
- Our dental laboratory technicians create a fully customized porcelain veneer based on the shape of your tooth and other individual factors
- Increased self-esteem because you no longer feel like you need to hold back your smile
This cosmetic dentistry procedure has made it possible for anyone to get the smile they desire. You don’t have to be rich or in a high-profile position to improve your appearance with porcelain veneers.
Preparing to Receive a Dental Veneer
After deciding to pursue this procedure, Dr. Moore takes an impression of the tooth receiving the veneer. This gives him the information necessary to make a stone replica of your tooth and send it to our dental laboratory. Our lab technicians use the tooth model to create your customized dental veneer. They can also create a temporary veneer for you to wear until they finish your new one in approximately two weeks. You can select the shade you want for your veneer to ensure that it blends in seamlessly with your untreated teeth.
When your new veneer has been fully fabricated, you need to come back to Dr. Moore’s office for a final fitting. Depending on the thickness of your tooth enamel, he may need to remove a fraction of a millimeter to make sure that the veneer fits securely. He then places the impression material on your tooth for up to five minutes to allow it to harden. Dr. Moore may also use a curing light to encourage the hardening process. You’re free to go home once that has taken place.
